The nature of men is this…
We either learn the hard way, or the hardest way, and most of us love to learn the hardest way. You could have solid evidence displaying your best friend’s fiancé being an absolute whore, show him the receipts, and guess what… he will still marry her in June. You can share every detail from your own experience about what happens when you get too comfortable in a relationship, explain the perils of knocking up the wrong woman, describe the pitfalls of putting women first, and men will still look you dead in the eye and say, “Not me.” We have to almost die, damn near lose everything, and/ or fall completely flat on our face before we finally decide to start doing what’s best for our lives.
Let’s Go 2 Work.
So why are men like this?
Because we are arrogant.
As long as everything seems to logically make sense concerning our day-to-day routine, we won’t rock the boat…at all. We think to ourselves, “I get the bills paid, I’m faithful, and I treat my girl better than her ex. In return, every now and then, she touches my dick. Why the hell do I need to become better and self-improve for? I’ve already made it to the finish line…I’m good!” When things are going well for a good amount of time, our nature makes us believe that we’re the reason for the great fortune. It tricks us into thinking that we’re so smart and everyone else has failed because they're so dumb. This inherent arrogance causes us to boldly ignore the mistakes of others and foolishly disregard every possible sign of imminent doom.
With that said, I have spoken on our nature only to state the following…
Find God, before God finds you, so that “Not me” doesn’t one day become “Why me?”
Do not wait for God to disrupt your life, find him… NOW, as in, find the God within you. To find God, all you must do is this…go in a quiet room, invite him into the room and close the door, sit, close your eyes, and listen. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
God finds you when you’ve become too arrogant. All of the good things you have right now and/or will have in the future is partly because of you, but mainly because of grace, which can be taken just as easy as it was given. One way or the other, you are going to do what you were sent here to do.
I learned this… the hardest way.
