Why You Need to Start Looking at Everything Backwards

This week, let’s get straight to work!

I would like to introduce to you what philosopher Alan Watts calls “The Backwards Law.” The backwards law is this: the more you try to grab ahold of something, the more it slips away, the more you focus on something, the more you get the opposite. The more you want to be happy, the more unhappy you become because all you do is focus on the fact that you’re not happy. The more pleasure you seek, the more unfulfilled you feel. The more you try to win, the more you lose. The more you try to be nice, the more people are dicks to you. The more you chase women, the less women want you, so on and so on.

From this day forth, I want you to start looking at things backwards.

For 30 days, I challenge you to do this…

Instead of going to the gym looking for gains, I want you to go the gym for the pain and the pain alone…because there lie your results. Instead of TRYING to get money, I want you to fall in love with your purpose …because there lies your wealth. Instead of TRYING to be happy, I want you to start solving the problems in your life…because solving problems equals happiness. Instead of chasing women, I want you to stop worrying about them, stop caring about them for a while…because you guessed it…that’s when they start flocking. Instead of chasing what is fun, do what is boring and tedious. That thing that you so desperately want…start acting as if you don’t need it. In a world full of options….limit yours, because there lies your freedom.

Run towards the fear and you will find bravery. Run towards failure and you will find success. Run towards what you hate and you will find what you love.

Start looking at everything backwards…Be great outchea.
