So…I currently reside in Houston, Texas and this week we were hit with a so-called “category- one” hurricane (I believe it was much stronger than that). I’ve been without power, like many Houstonians, for five days now. Regardless of what I’m going through, I still have to do…what I have to do. I still have to do all of my Clark Kent shit (errands). I still have to train. I still have to produce the podcast. I still have to get these articles to you. Why? Because nobody gives a shit.
Nobody gives a shit that life has happened to you. As a Self-Made Man, you do not get to complain, nor do you get to make excuses. Instead, you must always FIND a way to take care of business, regardless of the circumstance. Nobody gives a shit that the men who work for the electric companies have been laboring around the clock to get the power back on. Nobody gives a shit that they’re human too. Infact, a man recently pulled a pistol on a powerline technician threatening to shoot him as if it were his fault we have no electricity. Nobody gives a shit what a man is going through, and whether that is a good or bad thing doesn’t matter, all that matters is that you continue to chop the wood and carry the water, in other words… get the fucking job done.
During times of trouble, remain COOL and take PRIDE in being the MAN that everyone looks to for STRENGTH. Even though the world around you may be falling apart, always have FAITH that the future-you will figure it out. And more important than all of this, whether you are adored or ignored, given a parade or a middle finger, feeling tired or not, you must still…chop wood and carry water.
