If you are a long-time reader of my articles or if this is your first-time here, from the bottom of my heart, salute. That being said, you can read each and every one of my entries, you can listen to every episode of my podcast, but if you do not seek the God inside of you, none of what I say or what anybody says will matter. Many of you will search high and low for answers, but not once will you sit alone and ask yourselves the hard questions…. “Who am I, where am I going, and what do I want…for real?” True enlightenment is not in the sky, it’s not in some book or Tik Tok video, it’s not even in these articles, true enlightenment can only be found…WITHIN.
Without further ado… let’s get 2 work.
Scenario number one…
You’re out and about running some errands. You make a quick stop into Target and bump into a homeboy from back in the day. He says to you… “What’s good fam, I was just thinking about you and your YouTube channel, man you really got something but I think you should focus on men AND women rather than just men so you can reach a broader audience. Either way, I think your show is fire bro, keep it up!” Now, you have a plan, but all of a sudden, you’re considering changing your show up and you begin to think, “Maybe I should try to appeal to more people, maybe running into him was a sign!”
Scenario number two…
You get a DM from an ex-girlfriend. She says to you, “Hey stranger, I just wanted to say that you’ve been on my mind a lot lately and I was thinking how we used to have a lot of fun together. Let me know if you would like to go out some time and catch up.” You’re currently in a committed relationship and you love your girl, but your lady has been getting on your nerves a lot lately. You start thinking to yourself, “Mann that pussy was good back in the day… maybe I should see what she talkin’ bout.”
Let’s put a pin in these two scenarios for a brief moment.
There is approximately 1,440 minutes in a day. To break this down even further, a single day consists of 86,400 seconds. For the sake of argument, let’s subtract 440 minutes for rest. That leaves us with roughly 1,ooo minutes per day. Out of these 1,000 minutes, how many minutes would you say you spend thinking about yourself? This includes everything that concerns your past, present, and future. Okay, and how many minutes would you say you spend thinking about loved ones? Alright, and how many minutes do you spend thinking about people you hate or absolutely cannot stand? I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we think about ourselves, give or take, for about 900 minutes per day. Furthermore, we think about our loved ones and the people we hate, aka the people that affect our lives, for about 100 minutes at different intervals throughout the day.
Consider the following. If you think about yourself for 60,000 seconds per day and contemplate the people that affect your life for 6,000 seconds per day, how much time do you really believe other people, whom you have no effect on, spend thinking about… you?
Back to scenario number one.
“I was just thinking about you and your YouTube channel, man you really got something but I think you should focus on men and women rather than just men so you can reach a broader audience.”
Out of 10,080 minutes in a 7-day week, how many of those minutes did this dude spend thinking about you? I would say absolutely… ZERO. I would go on to say that he only thought about you because he saw you. This interaction was not a sign, this was merely… TRAFFIC. Let me explain. You are nothing more than a traffic jam to the majority of people you encounter in life. What do I mean? We only think about traffic when we’re in traffic and then when we’re out of traffic, we never think about it, that is, until we’re in traffic again.
Scenario number 2…
“You’ve been on my mind a lot lately and I was thinking how we used to have a lot of fun together. Let me know if you would like to go out some time and catch up.”
Now here you are about to ruin a good thing based on a woman saying that she thought about you. One, you are failing to remember that she is in your past for a reason. Two, you’re not considering the amount of time your ex has spent thinking about you. Out of 10,080 minutes this week, I’ll be generous and say that she thought about you, off and on, for a full 5 minutes. So, you are about jeopardize your relationship with someone who loves you and thinks about you anywhere from 1 to 100 minutes PER DAY, uninterrupted, for someone who has thought about you for maybe 300 seconds… the whole week???
I’ve said all that to say, nobody’s thinking about you for real.
It makes no sense to allow someone, who has thought about you for MAYBE a collective 3 minutes, 180 seconds, in the whole year, to dictate whether or not you will do something. On some real shit, what people think about you is really not your business. Your loved ones will love you regardless of what you do, the people that despise you will hate you no matter what you do, and everybody else, as much as they pretend to, really don’t give a shit about you!
At the end of the day, all that matters is what YOU think, everything else is just… traffic.
