Balls

Whenever I’m watching something good, I tend to adopt the mindset of the main character. I don’t just watch a movie/tv show, I become the movie/tv show. If I’m watching “Batman”, I am Batman. If I’m watching “Peaky Blinders”, I am the Peaky Blinders. I’ve been this way since I was a child. This week, I’ve been obsessed with athlete documentaries, “McGregor”, “Beckham”, “Quarterback”, so, you can pretty much guess what kind of energy I have today. With that said…

Let’s get to work.

I’m sure you already know what it takes to be successful. Every great person, dead or alive, has mentioned what it takes to win again and again. Just in case you haven’t been paying attention, to be successful you need…allies, discipline, positive attitude, consistency, faith, hard work, competence, relentlessness, vision, focus, and desire.

Although this list is solid, there’s one major thing that everybody seems to leave off.

To be successful you also need…

AUDACITY.

I was thinking of Rosa Parks the other day. We know her name simply because she had the audacity to say, “Nah.” Kevin Samuels had audacity. Jesus Christ had supreme audacity. The entertainer you admire, the leader you respect, the legend you look up to most, each and every GREAT person who has ever walked this earth had a tremendous amount of…audacity.

The word audacity was developed by the Latin word audacitas, which means “boldness.” Audacity means to have the type of courage or confidence that other people find shocking or rude. It is the disregard for conventional thought and commonly imposed restrictions. It is the willingness to take bold risks. Simply put, audacity means having balls…BIG FUCKIN’ BALLS.

To be successful, yes, you must grind, you must have faith, you must be determined, you must be consistent, and you must want it as bad as you want to breathe. But you also have to be brave enough to SEIZE your moment when it comes or what does all that shit matter? Your moment, which may only come once in your lifetime, will require you to do something scary, risky, offensive, and/or uncomfortable.

So, the question is not really how bad do you want success, but rather, do you have the balls for it?
