You Need an Update

Say mayne, I'M BACK! I hope all is well with you and I would like to thank you for supporting what we are doing here. Now, let's get to it.

Allow me to start off by asking a question. Have you done your latest update? No, I'm not talking about on your IPhone or Android. And no, I'm not speaking about the latest software update on your laptop or tablet. I'm talking about YOU. Have YOU done an update lately? Before you think i'm crazy, let me explain.

In a time where everyone is attached to some form of technology, we all fall victim to wanting the latest and greatest. (Including me) A lot of the time it's the hardware we update. But, for those with a deeper understanding, the software update becomes more important. These updates do a lot for the hardware. They fix big issues, offer new ways for you to use the hardware, and gives the user a better overall experience with the hardware. (Just hold on, I promise I'm going somewhere with this)

Now, as much as we enjoy our phones, tablets, and computers, we constantly forget to update the one thing that matters: ourselves. Look, I know what you are thinking. "What the fuck is B Wayne talking about?" I'm talking about YOU updating your mind, your way of thinking, your way of doing what needs to be done to reach that ultimate goal.

For you to truly understand what I'm saying, let me give you a definition of the word update.

*an act of bringing something or someone up to date, or an updated version of something (noun)

Why is this important? Because, without changing (updating), you are destined to fail, destined to stay where you are, destined to lose. I believe that an update is necessary AND that you are ready for one. You coming to this website and getting your weekly dose of the blog is you updating yourself. Just like with a phone, an update brings about a newness. A new way of thinking. A new wave of ideas. A new way to maneuver through life. An update can come in many forms. For example, taking a trip somewhere to get some quiet time. It doesn't have to be far. Just go to the closet city you know for a couple of days. Struggling with a big decision? Maybe you should try fasting for a few days. Do this by cutting off your access to certain things like watching TV, playing games, or eating certain foods and meditate on the decision at hand. You can even block off some time to research a topic that you have gained a new found interest in. Hell, you can even go back and refresh yourself with old episodes of the pod! Just so you don't think that I'm just saying this to say it, I m actually doing this myself. My most recent update was a guys trip (we spoke about doing this on the pod). I took 5 days and went out of state with some friends of mine. Needless to say it was just what I needed. We hung out, visited spots around the town, did a lot of drinking and spent some time just talking. Towards the end of the trip, I felt refreshed and ready to get back to my daily grind.

Regardless of what you do, I highly suggest that you find something that will enhance and advance your life. As men, we need to continue to press towards the mark of greatness. We need to create room for ourselves to grow. So, as logical creatures, doesn't it make sense to do so? Trust me on this one. Update yourself. I promise it will do some good.

To greatness, Alumni!

B. Wayne
